Legacy of Compassion Capital Campaign
Lifting up our neighbors for generations to come
With growing needs in Central Texas, the Serving Center must provide more food and financial assistance to its neighbors. Today, the biggest obstacle to that mission is space.
Thanks to the generous $500,000 bequest from a long-time volunteer, in 2021, the Serving Center purchased the lot adjacent to its current facility. The Serving Center’s plan is to build a 16,000 sq. ft. thrift store and move the clothing and furniture stores out of the existing building and renovate the existing building.
The Vision for the Future of The Serving Center
The long-term vision for the new facility and renovations were designed in pursuit of our mission to be a resource in our community, reaching families and individuals in crisis and serving their needs with assistance, care, and support.
A new thrift store and renovations to the existing building will enable The Serving Center to:
-
Increase annual sales revenue through the expanded thrift store, with future projected sales revenue of $1,000,000.
-
Maximize opportunity to grow self-funded, sustained revenue
-
Double the size of the food pantry
-
Add Veteran Service’s offices to the current facility
-
Increase the capacity to provide more program services and help more people
-
Increase funds given through rent and utility assistance
-
Be good stewards of the opportunitiy that the estate gift and land purchase have provided to continue compassionately serving the needs of our community for years to come
It is humbling to be part of The Serving Center mission to serve struggling, low-income families. The needs are even more critical at this time with the rising cost of groceries, gasoline, and housing. We have an opportunity to be good stewards of a bequest and land purchase that will increase the capacity and sustainability for The Serving Center to provide more impactful help, and to assist more people. The construction of a larger thrift store and expansion of the food pantry is very exciting! We honor God with the glory for everything that is accomplished at The Serving Center!
